The course CS 450 is divided into 2 distinct parts; the first of which comprises the first 10 of the 14 weeks alotted to us by the semester. Throughout this time the student will be exposed to a bombardment of relevant material from both fields: Computer Science and emerging technologies on the one hand and a series of survey Art History lectures that are designed to illustrate the art historical references and precedents to some of the visual elements that they will be dealing with in the creation of their environments.

The opertive idea behind the art history survey lectures based upon visual elements is the following: If you are to use light, you will be wise to look at what Caravaggio and Vermeer did with this medium, just as where colour is concerned you should look at the major colorists and where narrative and expressiom are concerned much inspiration can be derived from examining the works of Frieda Kahlo...

Additionally special lectures that deal at length and with examples on the specifics of Virtual environment creation and design, such as navigation, architecture, typography and the like will also be presented.
